Experience
Broadcast Graphic Designer: WTVJ-TV, Miami, FL.
Created graphics for on-air broadcasts: news, weather, sports, promotional spots, TV specials, for the Orange Bowl Parade and MDA Telethon; public affairs, children's programming, AM South Florida, the local morning show; PM Magazine and Florida Lottery Launch. Emmy award for animation, "Angela: A Street Story." Ran Chyron and still store for both live broadcasts, including remotes, and recorded production. Created and executed set design and set dressings. During my stint at WTVJ, the station changed its 50-year affiliation with CBS to NBC. It was a huge rebranding and new promotional campaign. Integral in the creation and execution of new on-air graphics, including redesigning the weather maps and related symbols, promotional formats, news/sports graphics and banners. Also assisted in setting up type formats of news broadcasts and shows.
Art Director: Park Seed, Greenwood, SC.
Produced a national direct-mail catalog from pagination to calling color on press runs; created the graphics for the "new look" of the catalog; styled product photography; created graphics for on-air use by QVC; created animated and other web graphics to assist internet department; designed ads for use in various publications.
Training Director: Sexual Trauma & Counseling Center, Greenwood, SC.
Through the development and organization of publicity,educated the community to the problem of sexual abuse and taught prevention skills.
Also, implemented and executed training specific to Law Enforcement and its handling of SA victims; developed accredited training for Emergency room nurses, law enforcement officials, Department of Social Services workers and first responders; developed in-service training for staff and volunteers.
Initiated the Center’s "Hispanic Outreach" program via building relationships with the Latino community centers, its free clinic and the American Red Cross. As part of the Center's in-service training, conducted weekly Spanish classes for the staff.
Also responsible for the development, organization, publicity, implementation and execution of special events, such as "Walk In My Shoes", "Balloon Release", Commissioner of Public Works utility bill, in order to educate the community to the issue of sexual assault.
Designed and edited the quarterly newsletter, Quorum.
As Volunteer Coordinator, responsibilities included interviewing and processing volunteer and intern candidates' applications; conducting the 25-hour mandatory training of volunteers to handle emergency room and hotline call response; coordinating the on-call calendar; conducting volunteer meetings; editing the volunteer newsletter.
